DIY do’s and don’ts for your home
Spring is in the air! … and for many homeowners, this inspires them to freshen up their home with some DIY. Whether you’re selling, or even just updating your property, there are some jobs that you can tackle yourselves, while others should definitely be left to the experts.
Here we take a look at some of the more popular DIY projects that you can embark on this spring, and where you should hire a skilled tradesman to improve your property.

Clean your gutters & pathways – Using a jet washer and leaf blower can give you instant results on the exterior of your property. Now that we have hopefully waved goodbye to last of the bad weather, you can brave the outdoors to spruce up and clear away any signs of winter. Grab yourself a bin liner, some gloves and get rid of any unwanted leaves. Wash away the mud and marks that the rain has left on your paths and patio areas. Of course, if you’re afraid of heights call in the experts to tackle your gutters!
Paint & Repair – If you’ve been putting off those little jobs around your home, make a list of what needs doing before spending the afternoon ticking them off. Whether its a lick of paint here and there, replacing a broken door handle or fixing a tap leak, these small, but significant repairs, can really change how you feel about a room.
Re-grout your tiles – There are many options out there to help you easily re-grout the tiles in your kitchen and bathroom. These areas can become grubby, which can make a room look far worse than it actually is. First, give the areas a thorough clean, then use your grouting pen or tools to leave your tiles looking like new.

Electrical Work – Always leave any electrical work to a professional. If these jobs are done incorrectly, they can cause a fire or worse. Most electrical jobs must comply with regulations, this can also affect you if you’re planning on selling or letting a property.
Pipes & Plumbing – Fixing a leaky tap is one thing, but generally any plumbing work should not be tackled by yourself, unless of course, you’re a registered plumber! Any mistakes could result in spending far more money getting the work fixed, than what it would have cost to do the job properly in the first place.
Tiling – Tiling your bathroom, kitchen or flooring might seem simple at first, however, we promise that this is a job that must be done properly, or forever look like an eyesore! This fiddly job can be ruined by uneven walls, unlevelled floors and/or poor grouting. You will indubitably spend time and money on your tile choice, so don’t ruin the finished look by trying to complete this tricky job yourself.
